The Florent Garaudet domain is located in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, in the village of Monthelie, between Volnay and Meursault and about 7 km south of Beaune.
Cultivators from father to son, Florent Garaudet is the fifth generation to cultivate part of the family domain.
About 60 percent of the 3 hectares of the property is planted in the Pinot Noir variety in the vineyards surrounding Monthelie, while 40 percent is planted in Chardonnay and spans the Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet appellations, with an additional small plot of Aligoté vines in Puligny .
With 2 hectares, Domain Florent Garaudet is able to take a precision approach to quality , both in the vineyard and in the cellar. As a result, the wines show rich and dense characteristics of great personality and breed, honoring the reputation of the best Burgundy wines around the world.
At harvest, the grapes are taken to the cuvees whole and in small containers to maintain quality. The grapes are vinified with the utmost care to preserve their intrinsic qualities and following traditional methods, while alcoholic fermentation occurs naturally with the yeasts present and without the use of any chemicals, further emphasizing the notion of terroir.
The crushing of white grapes will be similar to that of red grapes, with a moderate degree of skin contact in order to enrich the first juice of the highest quality.
The wines will then be racked, naturally by gravity, into oak barrels from our two-hundred-year-old cellar.Aging is entirely in French oak barrels made from rigorously selected woods of different origins, with about one-third new barrels each year. Again depending on the particular vintage, the aging process will vary from 8 to 18 months for white wines and 12 to 18 months for reds.
