Chartogne-Taillet is located in Merfy, in the Montagne de Reims in the Champagne region. The estate has been in existence since 1683, when the Taillet family began cultivating vines in Merfy. It is still a family estate and has been managed by Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet since 2006. The 11 hectares of vineyards are divided into 13 separate parcels on clay-sandy soil. Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet uses organic farming methods and has stopped the use of synthetic herbicides, but the estate is not certified. Cuvée “Sainte Anne” Champagne Brut Chartogne Taillet is made from grapes harvested from vineyards of at least 25 years old, that are worked with respect for nature and its rhythms in Merfy. The vineyards are on soils rich in sand and clay northwest of the city of Reims, in the coolest area of the Champagne region. Champagne Sainte-Anne Brut is a straw-yellow wine, offering aromas of bread crust and honey. The palate is slender and long on the finish.
