Quercus Alba Linkwood Whisky 2011 – Wilson & Morgan

Quercus Alba is the name given to the blend experiments made using virgin oak barrels with traditional ex-Bourbon barrels, and subsequently patented by Linkwood distillery. The results of this balanced blend of different wood types can be noted in its delicious drinkability, smoothness and complexity of aromas. The nose is extremely fruity – imagine the ripest bananas
and you start to get the idea. There are also notes of ripe peaches and apricots, candied bergamots and oranges, and a hint of beeswax. The taste is creamy, slightly buttery and again very fruity with raisins, oranges and acacia honey, balanced by a pleasantly tart note that calms any excess sweetness. The finish grows in pepperiness and spiciness, with a hint of mustard-flavored crystalized fruit.
