Rosso Toscano IGT “Paleo” 2020 – Le Macchiole

Le Macchiole can be called the “Bolgheri Boutique”. Today, Bolgheri is one of the most famous wine regions in Italy, but this seemed impossible in 1983, the year Le Macchiole was established. At the time, the area was known simply for its proximity to the sea and abundant fruit and grain production. Still, two Bolgherians, Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli, were so fascinated by viticulture and the idea of being able to produce wine that they decided to embark on this adventure anyway, despite it being considered by many as unviable. It has a magnificent shade of ruby, pigeon-blood red. Paleo Incanta’s nose offers a succession of scents revealed as the glass is rotated. Sweet spices, black pepper and juniper, raspberry, bitter orange and lavender, camphor, aromatic herbs, iron notes and noble vegetal nuances. The palate has a swirl of sensations that confirm what was found on the nose. It conquers the palate with grace, perfectly balanced by a measured acidity throughout and tannins of rare elegance.
