Hampden Pagos is the first ever experiment in the rum world of 100% full aging in ex-Sherry casks. The idea was born in 2014, following the scandal of Sherry butts that had never entirely contained authentic Sherry, when Luca Gargano thought of involving one of Jerez’s most renowned bodegas: in 2017, Lustau then delivered 500-liter European oak Sherry butts to Hampden that had contained top-quality Oloroso Pata de Gallina and Pedro Jimenez for three years. Hampden thus used these perfectly aged Sherry butts to age its pure single rum in a tropical climate. The result is a perfect marriage between an intense and unique rum and the finest Sherry butts.
Pagos takes its name from the definition of parcels and terroir in the Sherry tradition: an unmistakable flavor profile, a genuine rum that needs no tricks: strictly no added sugar. The content is 1603.5 g/hlpa of which 394 g/hlpa is ester.
