Another pearl bottled by Thibault Liger-Belair, a true champion of Burgundy wine, and capable like few others of combining essential work in the vineyard and cellar with stunning stylistic depth. Liger-Belair’s is a weighty surname in the wine world, since Domaine Comte Liger-Belair has produced some of the strongest expressions of red Burgundy, but despite this Thibault, has decided to follow his own, personal path, made of rigorous choices when it comes to agriculture and cellar practices, applied to some of the most suitable vine-growing plots in the world. The result speaks of wines that are deep and suggestively rich, but also approachable and enjoyable for anyone approaching the ”sacred” Cote d’Or with reverence.
The Grand Cru Corton “Clos du Roi” is made from pure Pinot Noir grapes from one of the best-known vineyards on a parcel classified as a Grand Cru. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, work is done without any strong interventions, without the use of any chemical and synthetic substances, and only supported with small amounts of copper, sulfur, as well as natural preparations. In the cellar then, all alcoholic fermentations occur spontaneously, and aging of between 14 and 18 months takes place in barrels.
