Pol Roger created his Cuvée Prestige as a tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, mindful of the qualities he sought in his champagne: robustness, a full-bodied character and relative maturity. The exact blend is a closely guarded family secret, but it’s composition would certainly have met with Churchill’s approval: “My tastes are simple, I am easily satisfied with the best”. Pinot Noir is dominant, providing structure, fullness and robustness while Chardonnay contributes elegance, finesse and subtlety. Made exclusively with grapes from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Grands Crus vineyards that were already cultivating vines during Churchill’s lifetime.
The Sir Winston Churchill cuvée is made only in the best years and is always released later than other vintage champagnes by Pol Roger, demonstrating Churchill’s appreciation for older wines.
