The finesse of Belle Epoque 2015 a vintage champagne from Perrier Jouet in an innovative case reinterpreted by Fernando Laposse
The property
The Perrier-Jouët Champagne House was founded in 1811 by Pierre Perrier and his wife Adèle Jouët. Produced from exceptional Champagne terroirs (Aÿ, Mailly-Champagne, Avize and Cramant), the house’s cuvées are known for their singular style that combines aromatic richness, refinement and subtlety. Starting in 1861, Perrier-Jouët became the champagne of choice of Queen Victoria and later of the French Imperial Court.
Owned by the champagne company GH Mumm since 1959, Perrier-Jouët owes its uniqueness in particular to the iconic bottle of its prestige cuvée “Belle Epoque”, designed in 1969 by Émile Gallé.
An innovative pencil case
The emblematic Perrier-Joüet Belle Epoque champagne is the first cuvée to feature the white Japanese anemone, a motif created for the house in 1902 by Art Nouveau master Émile Gallé.
Perrier-Jouët’s La Belle Époque 2015 is a perfect interpretation of the Maison’s style and is the result of a harmonious blend of Champagne’s emblematic crus (Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Vertus and Mailly). This champage is aged for a minimum of 6 years in the company’s cellars.
An innovative pencil case reinvented by Fernando Laposse
Combining ecology and eco-design, Cocoon is a minimalist case dedicated to the vintages of Perrier-Jouët. On the occasion of this anniversary, Fernando Laposse was invited by Perrier-Jouët to design new limited editions. Particularly inspired by the actions taken by the famous house to develop biodiversity in its vineyards, Fernando Laposse was inspired by pollination, an ephemeral process that highlights the importance of each species in the growth of vines.
The vintage
Following a mild winter, a period of drought began in mid-May which led to early flowering. The month of July was exceptionally dry and hot, with record temperatures. However, the rains of mid-August contributed to the ripening of the grapes, providing optimal conditions for a harvest of healthy and perfectly ripe grapes.
