Barolo DOCG 2019 – Cascina Fontana

Barolo, with its noble origins, is our greatest wealth, it is part of our culture and identity: it is the wine that makes us proud of our land, the Langhe. Barolo is never easy: it is a great wine for complexity, character, body, dignity, hardness and austerity. It is not easily revealed at the first taste, only after a slow aging, both in barrels and bottles, Barolo opens and reveals its secrets.

Barolo Cascina Fontana is produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown in hilly areas located in the heart of the production area, precisely in the three vineyards owned by the Fontana family: Villero (cru Villero) and Valletti (cru Mariondino) in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto and Gallinotto (cru Giachini) in the municipality of La Morra. The grapes of each vineyard contribute with different characteristics to the preparation of Barolo Cascina Fontana: complexity, structure, elegance, acidity, fruit and minerality are some of these.
Following the family tradition, the production of each vineyard is crushed, destemmed and vinified separately. Once fermentation is finished, the wines are assembled together and aged for about two years in Slavonian oak barrels of 25/27 hectoliters each. After this period, the wine is racked into cement tanks for a further year of aging and then bottled in a single bottling. The Barolo Cascina Fontana produced from the three cru-vineyards, will be ready for sale after about six months from the date of bottling.

Barolo is a wine that requires patience. The slow vinification and the long maceration on the skins lead to a concentration of extracts and tannins such as to guarantee a remarkable aging capacity for tens of years. The result is a deep and austere wine, to drink with family or in the company of close friends in the best moments of life. Intense garnet red color, with a nose rich in floral notes and ripe fruits, with nuances of orange peel, licorice and menthol. The palate is persistent and elegant, with enveloping tannins, notes of cherries in spirit and minerals. Excellent from aging .
