Organic and biodynamic wines: which one should you choose?

In recent years, the wine world has seen an increasing focus on organic and biodynamic wines. But why should we choose them?

Organic and biodynamic wines: what are the differences

Organic wines are made from grapes grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers or other environmentally harmful chemicals. This means that the grapes are grown naturally, without the use of artificial chemicals. The end result is a wine that reflects the nature of the soil and climate where the grapes were harvested.
Biodynamic wines, on the other hand, are made from grapes grown according to the principles of biodynamics, an agricultural philosophy that views the vineyard as a living, integrated system. Biodynamics is based on an understanding of the natural forces that govern life on Earth and seeks to work in harmony with these forces. Biodynamic farmers use natural preparations to fertilize the soil and to promote the health of plants and their fruit.
In both cases, the goal is to produce wines that are as natural and environmentally friendly as possible. Producers who choose to process their grapes in this way often choose to limit the use of advanced technologies and work in a more traditional way. This means that the wines they produce can have a unique character, with aromas and flavors that reflect the terroir where they were made.
