Criots Bastard is the only Montrachet of the Grand Cru family to be located exclusively in the town of Chassagne Montrachet. At the foot of Bâtard and Montrachet, it produces internationally renowned white wines, recognized as one of the world’s greatest Chardonnays.
Roger Belland and his daughter Julie represent the fifth and sixth generations of the property located in the prestigious Côte de Beaune, whose vineyards are rooted in the best Premiers and Grands Crus terroirs of Les Maranges, Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard.
The grape varieties grown are exclusively Pinot Noir (for red wines) and Chardonnay (for white wines) on a total area of about 24 hectares.
Always passionate about wines of great excellence, the Bellands apply controlled and specialized viticulture that respects the environment, starting, for example, with the planting of selected grass among the vines to control their yield and allow the typicality of the terroir to emerge, counteracting erosion and the growth of harmful microorganisms. The rigorous selection and harvesting of grapes is done by hand.
