Located in the heart of Morey-St-Denis, alongside the prestigious Clos del Lambrays Grand Cru vineyard, Domaine Taupenot-Merme was born in 1963 from the marriage of Jean Taupenot and Denise Merme and is now run by their children Romain and Virginie. For a long time the Domaine was managed with two separate properties, one in Saint-Romain (the maternal property) and one in Morey-St-Denis (the paternal property), which were then unified in 1998.
\nDomaine Taupenot-Merme works exclusively on estate and organic vineyards. The vineyard park consists of 13 hectares of vines, dislocated between C\u00f4te de Nuits and C\u00f4te de Beaune, with estates in Grand Cru, 1er Cru and Village vineyards. Jean and Denise expanded the vineyard plots by acquiring a parcel in the prestigious 1er Cru Les Pruliers in Nuits-St-Georges in 1999 and in 2005 with the acquisition of half a hectare in the Grand Cru Corton Rognet. Among the winery’s most coveted and valuable vineyards is a very small parcel of Clos de Lambrays, adjacent to the winery, which has become a real thorn in the side of the Domaine of the same name, which for years has aspired to make this Grand Cru a Monopole. Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the most beloved and well-known villages in the Cote de Nuits, with no less than 55 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards and 84 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards. Gevrey is a red-only appellation and produces some of the fullest, silkiest Pinot Noirs in Burgundy.
\nThe Grand Cru vineyards are all at an altitude between 260 and 300 meters above sea level. They are all located on Chambertin Hill and are divided into: Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de B\u00e8ze, Chapelle-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, Mazoy\u00e9res-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin, Latrici\u00e8res-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin and finally Ruchottes-Chambertin.Sensual and elegant. Compared to Charmes-Chambertin it has greater complexity and is more refined and rigorous on the palate. It is also longer-lived but needs more bottle aging before reaching full maturity<\/p>\n
