Located in the city of Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, it is considered one of the areas in Japan with the best air and drinking-water quality. It is both strategic, given its proximity to Osaka, and evocative, due to its views over the picturesque Seto Inland Sea.
Eigashima Shuzo first entered the spirits business to produce sake and shochu in 1888, before obtaining a license in 1919 to produce whisky in Japan. This was in response to increased demand for this product, demand that until then was met by imports. As one of the pioneers in this field, the original distillery was built in the Scottish style, and the company decided to use only specially selected barley imported from Scotland.
It was not until 1984, though, that White Oak Distillery came to life, the year the company built a new plant with a modern unit dedicated to malt whiskies, transporting pot stills and washbacks from the old facility and converting the former distillery into a warehouse.
Traditional Japanese whiskies are unmistakably linked to Scotch whiskies with the same ability to surprise every connoisseur while differing in certain aspects. Indeed, Japanese whiskies are created with an emphasis on smoothness, using distillation methods now almost abandoned in Scotland.
Tokinoka in Japanese literally means “the scent of time”.
Tokinoka Black Sake Cask, on the other hand, stands out for its mineral and extremely original character, pure Japaneseness that’s extremely well balanced.
On the nose, its aromatic range transports you to the archipelago with pronounced notes of puffed rice, rye bread, as well as fruity notes of pear and melon. On the palate, the round, rich texture allows the puffed rice aromas to emerge while leaving room for the arrival of malty, cereal and fruity aromas of ripe yellow fruits.
In order to maintain a full aromatic range, Tokinoka Black Sake Cask Finish has been bottled at 50 percent but remains a low-alcohol whisky.

Temperature:

14-16°C

Pairings:

After dinner

Alcohol content:

50%

Size:

50 cl

[813,841
848,849,850,851,852,853,854,855,856
