Marco Speri’s new project came to life in 2008 in Fumane in the elective area of the vast Valpolicella region, where a crossroads of winds favors temperature changes between day and night and keeps the soil dry. The soil, particularly generous in mineral salts, is highly variable in stratigraphy even for vineyards in the same locality. Amarone Secondo Marco is the result of a selection of Crovina, Corvinone, rondinella and other grapes that are left to macerate for about 45 days on the skins, then aged for 3½ years in 50 hl barrels and finally rests for 12 months in the bottle before being offered commercially.
Ruby with garnet mottling. The nose is dark and warm, with notes of black cherry in syrup, currant jam, cedarwood, cinchona, candied blood orange, wild mint, enamel and leather. The taste is intense and full-bodied, with marked freshness, round tannin and savory-balsamic persistence.
